POSITION OVERVIEW – KUNGKA RANGERS COORDINATOR

The Kungka Rangers Coordinator focuses on First Nations people managing Australia's natural and cultural environment, increasing employment for First Nations women, and providing opportunities for young people to learn on Country.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for a self-motivated person with a passion for the topic of Youth and Women’s Programs and who wants to be part of the team working towards local community-led change.

The incumbent will be required to perform responsibilities to a high standard, within agreed timelines and in line with the visions, missions, and values of Ngurratjuta.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•Create strong, trusted relationships with the local community members and key stakeholders.

•Work with the General Manager, Service Delivery to plan and implement community engagement strategies, and coordinating the development, implementation and evaluation of community youth programs. This may include creating and distributing communications materials.

•Meet the associated compliance requirements with the Kungka Ranger Programs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

You will have an understanding that the administrative element of the job is crucial, and you’ll also have:

Essential Criteria:

•Knowledge and respect for the cultural and social needs of First Nations people.

•Experience working with and alongside First Nations communities creating strong, trusted relationships.

•Experience in planning and implementing effective and culturally appropriate measures that encourages adherence to work routine

•A commitment to First Nations self-determination, community leadership and empowerment.

Additionally, you will have:

•Experience living in, engaging and working with remote aboriginal communities.

•Excellent communication and interpersonal (verbal and written).

•Project management, organisation and time management skills, including the ability to manage varied and conflicting demands to agreed standards and timelines.

•Ability to work independently as well as a part of the team.

•Self-motivation with a capability to generate and execute ideas.

•Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

•Demonstrated commitment to the effective implementation of Workplace Health & Safety and ethical and diversity practices in the workplace.

•Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

•Data management and experience in record keeping procedures.
