Better Business - advisory for built environment businesses seeking to mitigate risk and maximise opportunity related to ESG and climate change.
Better Cities & Regions - research, strategy and advisory to develop and respond to policy for more sustainable, integrated and prosperous cities and regions.
Better Buildings - management, engineering and design services to optimise the delivery and operation of better buildings.
ROLE SUMMARY
Permanent full time position
Salary from $80,000 to $110,000 (depending on skills and experience) + Superannuation
Based in Melbourne, Sydney or Perth, with hybrid working arrangements available
We are accepting Expressions of Interest for Consultant and Senior Consultant positions across our Better Cities & Regions and Better Business teams. These roles support the delivery of sustainability outcomes at a city, precinct, policy and organisational scale.
The successful candidate will apply technical skills and analytical frameworks to support both areas of the business to drive effective and ambitious integration of environmental, social and economic sustainability in the built environment.
EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES Must Haves
Deep alignment with our values and an active interest in sustainability and design
A relevant qualification in Sustainability, Design, Environment, Science, Engineering, Urban Planning, Business, Commerce, or a related discipline
Relevant professional experience in sustainability consulting or advisory roles (typically 2+ years for Consultant; 4+ years for Senior Consultant), spanning built environment, urban, organisational or corporate sustainability contexts
Experience project managing small to mid-scale projects with support from more senior team members
Technical skills and knowledge across one or more of: climate risk and adaptation, green infrastructure, energy and carbon emissions, sustainable urban development, circular economy, life cycle assessment, integrated water management, organisational sustainability, corporate sustainability reporting (including ASRS/ISSB), or ESG advisory
Familiarity with relevant sustainability frameworks and tools, which may include eTool, Green Star Communities, ASRS/ISSB reporting standards, GRI or similar built environment or corporate sustainability frameworks
Strong software capability such as InDesign, Microsoft Office and project management software with an ability to learn new applications quickly
Ability to think logically, analyse and assess opportunities and risks and identify solutions and outcomes
Excellent time management skills and a collaborative approach to work
Great written and verbal communication skills and developing a strong capacity to understand and work effectively within the commercial parameters of project delivery
Nice to Haves
Understanding of state/territory planning systems relevant to your location
Experience with GIS or other data analysis and visualisation tools
An ability to identify opportunities to continuously improve processes and practices
An understanding of design thinking principles and ability to understand and adopt a design-led approach to problem solving
A growing network of industry collaborators
Experience leading or managing projects or client relationships with reduced support (relevant to Senior Consultant applicants)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Content Production
Report drafting and preparation of client presentations
Undertake research, analysis and specification of key sustainability initiatives and strategies
Contribute to the planning and delivery of client workshops and meetings, fostering effective collaboration that drives sustainability results while aligning with overall project objectives
Contribute to the planning and execution of research initiatives that encourage multi-scale, multi-stakeholder integrated approaches to sustainability
Project Management
With direction, take a leading role in the management of small scale projects (Consultant), mid-large scale projects (Senior Consultant)
Provide timely and accurate advice to clients throughout the project lifecycle
Business Development
Build relationships with strategic partners and develop opportunities for work focused on integrated approaches to sustainability
Assist with proposal drafting and budget development
Represent HIP V. HYPE at industry events (Senior Consultant)
Professional Development
Actively develop your own knowledge base and capability by participating in events, seeking relevant industry accreditations and undertaking formal training
Share insights and information with Our People to ensure we continue to grow our collective knowledge base and maximise delivery efficiency
Communication
Provide content for social media, articles, advocacy, events, awards and the Credentials to the Head of Marketing & Communications
Support the delivery of Insights by HIP V. HYPE that align with our strategic direction
