Actuarial Role Summary
This role involves working with our internal capital model to inform strategic decisions across the business. You will calibrate, operate, and enhance the model to ensure accurate capital allocation, support pricing and investment strategies, and influence board-level recommendations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in actuarial science, statistics, or mathematics, and experience in actuarial roles within insurance. Proficiency in Excel and VBA is required, with Python or SAS experience preferred. Familiarity with Dynamic Financial Analysis tools and stochastic modelling is also desirable.
* Main Responsibilities:
* Calibrate, document, and maintain the Risk-Based Capital model for the Australian insurance entity and consolidated group.
* Analyse premium, claims, and financial data to produce accurate model inputs and actionable insights.
* Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate results to management and the board.
* Enhance and develop the model to meet regulatory and business requirements.
* Support capital allocation, pricing, reinsurance strategies, and investment analysis.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Tertiary qualifications in actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or related field.
* Progress toward or completion of Fellowship with the Actuaries Institute (or equivalent).
* Experience in actuarial roles within insurance, preferably general insurance.
* Strong analytical and statistical skills with proficiency in Excel and VBA; Python or SAS experience preferred.
* Familiarity with Dynamic Financial Analysis tools (e.g., Igloo) and stochastic modelling highly desirable.
