As a seasoned performance programmer, you will play a pivotal role in bringing diverse shows into the festival, fostering connections between generations. Your responsibilities will include building lasting partnerships with performers, venues, and grant applicants to design engaging experiences for families and grandparents.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of presenting performance-based work in various settings, with at least 8 years of experience. Key skills include effective communication, collaboration, and talent negotiation within multidisciplinary teams and community stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
* Forge strategic partnerships with touring and local performers, venues, and grant applicants
* Design programs that captivate intergenerational audiences, particularly children and parents
* Negotiate and contract talent through an extensive network of performers and performance companies
* Work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and community stakeholders
Requirements:
* At least 10 years of experience curating or producing performance-based work, especially for festivals or large-scale cultural programs
* Demonstrated ability to create engaging programs that appeal to intergenerational audiences, particularly children and parents
* Strong professional network of performers and performance companies, with expertise in negotiating and contracting talent
* Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualities:
* Familiarity with Canberra's cultural landscape and audience behaviors
* Personal experience as a parent, educator, or community arts facilitator, particularly with young people or schools
