The Bunya Mountains National Park attracts a large number of national and international visitors (around 200 000 per year) with opportunities to experience the rich natural & cultural heritage as well as a diverse range of recreational and ecotourism opportunities. The park provides 35km of graded track including 10 individual walks ranging in length from 500m at Dandabah to 10km round at Big Falls Lookout.This role will be actively involved in management, maintenance and protection duties on protected areas - sometimes in remote locations requiring a high level of physical fitness and a good awareness of the natural environment. The role's focus is based around asset construction and maintenance works, fire management activities, general wildlife management and public contact duties.
A day in the life
Day to day duties of a ranger are rarely the same. At the Bunya Mountains you will need to have very good attention to detail to keep the facilities to a high standard for visitor enjoyment and appreciation. Presenting the amenities, walking tracks, visitor areas and facilities to keep a high level of visitor satisfaction, but interspersed with weed and feral animal control and fire management. Plant and equipment use and maintenance is important, assisting with visitor inquiries and project management are also incorporated.

**Your Contribution**:
**As the Ranger you will**:

- Perform general estate development and maintenance duties such as construction and maintenance of walking tracks, fencing and recreational facilities on protected areas, and cleaning and maintenance of amenities.
- Perform estate protection duties such as assisting in cultural heritage management, fire management, pest and weed control programs.
- Assist with law enforcement and compliance duties.
- Perform operation and maintenance of minor plant and equipment.
- Perform general administrative duties including the operation of computers and technology, and some basic procurement of goods and services.
- Provide general information in relations to a wide range of queries from park visitors and other stakeholders

The person successful in the position will have the privilege of contributing to conserving a significant national park where rainforest meets grasslands.
