Senior Digital Experience Designer (UX) is a Full Time, 2-year Fixed Term Position
This is a hands-on design role for an experienced UX and Product Designer who is also familiar with UI Design. You will have responsibility for conducting research with users, and creating beautifully considered and designed artefacts, including user flows, journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes.
In recent times Digital Designers at the Department of Transport and Planning reached 145 million user sessions across DTP’s websites and apps and our PTV app has just over 4 million customers. We design a wide range of experiences, including conversational design for chatbots, personailised notifications and navigation across Victoria by bike, road, train and bus, offering real-time traffic updates and top notch digital solutions for divers customer requirements, including emergencies.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities
1. Collaborate with your Product Owner, key stakeholders and project team to shape the strategic direction of DTP’s digital products.
2. Work closely with the business and digital team to identify and define requirements and scope, metrics, and measures of success.
3. Take a human-centred design (HCD) approach to design new or improved products and services.
4. Translate product / business requirements into design, conceiving, sketching and prototyping concepts for digital products and services.
5. Communicate with both internal and external stakeholders, leading workshops and presenting work.

In order to excel in the position, the perfect candidate should have a cooperative and all-encompassing attitude, appreciating teamwork, transparent communication, and a varied viewpoint, all aimed at attaining favourable results for customers.
Other requirements include;
6. Experience with a mature portfolio/s demonstrating your role in innovative thinking and meaningful solutions for digital experiences through iterative design techniques such as user flows, information architecture, sketching and prototyping; supported by the findings of customer and desk research conducted.
7. An ability with human-centred design, with loads of hands-on experiences planning and conducting user research, usability testing
8. Strong communication skills and an ability to bring teams and senior stakeholders on the journey, with proven ability to be a ‘storyteller’ and show strategic thinking to support your design decisions and rationale.
9. Ability to identify emerging issues, trends and risks, with research, conceptual and analytical skills and expertise
10. Proven experience planning and leading workshops and presentations that facilitate and inspire customer-centred, evidence-based decision making.
Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
11. 3+ years’ experience working as a UX or Product Designer or Researcher
12. Sound knowledge of HCD, Design Thinking, and Agile methodologies
Desirable
13. Experience with broader CX activities, techniques, and behavioural economics
14. Experience designing mobile application experiences (iOS and Android)
15. Sound knowledge of the key principles of accessible and inclusive design
16. Proficient in Figma
17. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript
