About the Role
We are seeking someone who is caring, passionate, motivated, and who brings experience in community transport and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
The Community Minibus Driver/Administration Support Officer’s core role is to operate Communities at Work’s Minibus, and to provide administration support as required within the Minibus Service. The administrative support would be inclusive of assisting with bus bookings.
The Minibus service supports seniors, people experiencing isolation, and community groups who find it difficult to use other transport options
Duties and Responsibilities
Position Specific
* Operate the community minibus to ensure a safe and reliable passenger pick-up and drop-off service.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently to achieve program outcomes.
* Maintain effective, respectful, and timely communications with bookings team.
* Complete daily bus checks, and observe, record and report any hazards encountered to the program manager and bookings team.
* Follow safe manual handling practices, assist with the loading and unloading of wheelchairs, walkers, and grocery bags into and out of the minibus.
* Deliver a high standard of customer service, treating all service users, their families and other stakeholders with respect and courtesy.
* Assist, as required, those with mobility limitations to safely onboard and disembark, and report observations or concerns to the program Manager.
* Assist and support vulnerable individuals for the duration of their journey, from onboarding to disembarking.
* Assist with data entry, bookings, and other administrative requirements as part of the community minibus service, as required.
* Assist with the cleaning and maintaining of bus (exterior and interior).
* Assist in the promotion of Communities at Work programs as part of the minibus service.
Selection Criteria
Essential
* Maintain a current ‘Working with Vulnerable People’ registration (incl working with children)
* Hold a current and unrestricted driver’s licence (Light Rigid)
* Competent in using a range of IT systems, including mobile devices and Microsoft Office
* Proven experience and a strong understanding of excellent customer service principles.
Desirable
* Knowledge of the Canberra region and the ACT road system
* Current First Aid certificate
* Experience in a transport environment
* Experience working with vulnerable people
