About The Service

The Medicare Mental Health Services are free and don't require an appointment, referral or Medicare card to visit a centre. These services are co-funded by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments to provide a streamlined approach to support better mental health and social wellbeing across the country.

The service is tailored to the needs of the community in Tasmania and provides a combination of peer-led recovery and clinical support. Our centres offer a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress, allowing them to:

* Identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency Department
* Access support from trained mental health professionals within their community

Role Overview

As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide focused psychological strategies tailored to meet the individual needs of people accessing our service within a community-based mental health care setting. You will work collaboratively across health service networks to plan and coordinate individualised psychosocial interventions to meet the needs of people with mental health issues based on a case formulation approach.

* Provide comprehensive assessment, brief and ongoing interventions, risk management and care planning
* Work collaboratively across health service networks to plan and coordinate individualised psychosocial interventions to meet the needs of people with mental health issues based on a case formulation approach
* Work cooperatively and effectively through active participation within the multidisciplinary mental health team, the profession-specific network and with consumers, families/carers and extended agencies


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have one of the following registrations: General AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Occupational Therapist OR Mental Health Nurse OR AASW registration as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.

* Demonstrated a comprehensive level of knowledge, expertise and skill; specifically, Brief Intervention Models of Care Commitment to professional development and willingness to participate in a continuous learning environment
* Well-developed judgment and evaluation skills demonstrating a working understanding assessment and care planning
* Sound understanding of the public, non-government and private mental health systems and programs and associated non-mental health programs in a community setting
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills showing an ability and sensitivity to work with people who have or are at risk of developing a mental illness
* Proven ability to work creatively, collaboratively and effectively as a member of a team
* Demonstrated skills in organisation and time-management, including the ability to work under pressure and balance multiple tasks
* Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
* Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC
* Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
