We're currently seeking experienced Town Maintenance Officers to join our Parks and Environment team. As a Town Maintenance Officer, you'll play a key part in keeping our community's outdoor spaces looking great and functioning well. You'll work across parks, reserves, roads, drainage, reticulation systems, and other public infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include:
* General parks and streetscape maintenance
* Horticulture duties - planting, pruning, mulching, litter control
* Safe use of herbicides/pesticides (including spray rigs)
* Operating tools and machinery (hedging, pole hedging, line trimmers, chainsaws, blowers)
* Supporting the upkeep of sports fields, playgrounds, and public open spaces
* Promoting a safety-first culture across all work sites
* Proactively promote safety by identifying and managing risks...
Our preferred candidates will be able to demonstrate the following experiences and skillset:
* Current 'C' Class Driver's Licence (applicable to Western Australia)
* First Aid certification (Provide First Aid)
* Basic Worksite Traffic Management accreditation
* White Card
* Demonstrated experience within a similar role or industry
* Experience with hand tools and power operated equipment - specifically chainsaw & pole chainsaw
* Understanding of WHS legislative requirements within the workplace
* Ability to undertake and follow instructions as directed
* Ability to work within a team based environment under limited supervision
* Understanding of horticulture principles including gardening and mowing
* Possesses a spray technicians licence or has significant demonstrated experience applying herbicides/pesticides
The following skills would also be advantageous:
* Cert III Horticulture or Parks and Gardens
* Previous experience within Local Government
* Previous experience working with water sensitive urban designs
* MR / HR Truck licence
Salary & Benefits
* Salary range on offer $71,609 - $73,773 per annum (depending on experience)
