About the position
The Law Council of Australia is seeking a Section Coordinator & Administrator to provide high‑quality executive and administrative support across the International Law Section (ILS) and Family Law Section (FLS).
The Law Council’s Sections are national specialist groups that contribute to law reform, policy development, professional development and member engagement, supporting the rule of law and access to justice.
Reporting to the Head, International & Executive Officer, FLS this dual role involves approximately two days per week supporting the International Law Section, two days assisting the Family Law Section, and one day providing broader administrative support across the Sections Division and wider organisation.
This full‑time position is ideal for a highly organised professional who enjoys supporting committees, coordinating events and communications, and working in a member‑focused, professional environment.
Duties
Coordinator: International Law Section
* Coordinate and deliver ILS activities, events, and publications.
* Provide executive support to the ILS Chair and Executive Committee, including meeting coordination, agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions.
* Support Section governance, reporting, and alignment with Law Council frameworks.
* Manage member communications and maintain the CRM (Bond MX).
* Drive membership growth and engagement initiatives.
* Coordinate contributions to Law Council submissions and reports.
* Oversee digital presence (website, social media) with Communications.
* Support podcast production and content updates.
* Assist with budgeting and financial oversight in collaboration with Finance and the Section Treasurer.
Administrator: Family Law Section
* Provide administrative and operational support to the Family Law Section.
* Assist with coordination and delivery of events, seminars, and Section activities.
* Support governance functions through administrative assistance to the Company Secretary.
* Provide broader administrative support across Sections as required, including backfill during leave periods.
Selection criteria
Essential
* Demonstrated experience providing executive or high-level administrative support.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines independently.
* Strong attention to detail with well-developed written communication skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* High level proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Willingness to travel interstate and work occasional after hours.
Desirable
* Experience in providing meeting support including minute taking.
* Experience in data management systems, design software and registration systems.
* Background in member-based organisation, events or administration background.
* Basic finance experience.
* Experience liaising with key stakeholders such as courts, government agencies, members or service providers.
