Team Leader - Engineering Design Initiation

About The Role
The Team Leader - Engineering Design Initiation is responsible for leading a small team in the scoping, initiation and delivery of engineering design projects.
Working in the Design and Projects team and closely with Council's Assets team, the Team Leader Engineering Design Initiation will play a critical role in preparing and coordinating detailed designs, from concept to delivery. You will evaluate project requirements and provide sound engineering design solutions, ensuring compliance with technical standards and alignment to agreed project briefs.
As the Team Leader you will promote a collaborative and solutions-focused approach across departments and project partners, working to achieve shared goals in the design and delivery of engineered projects including council infrastructure, road construction and rehabilitation and drainage upgrades.
Benefits
This is a permanent full-time role working 35 hours per week with a base salary ranging from $118,909 - $131,989 per year + 3.5% civil liability allowance + 12% p.a superannuation + private leaseback vehicle.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will need tertiary qualifications in Civil Design or Engineering, or a combination of relevant qualifications, training and industry experience.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong experience in civil design and engineering, in particular design of roads, drainage, cycleways and recreation facilities. Knowledge of construction procedures for civil engineering works is essential, alongwith proven experience in project initiation, quantity calculations and estimating. A working knowledge of structural engineering and building construction advantageous. Experience using Civil3d, Stringer, Benchmark and MS Project as tools is desirable. Experience in local government not essential but will be highly regarded.
Strong supervisory skills are essential, including the ability to supervise, coach, and support team members. You will also express strong interpersonal skills, with strengths ing negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
