Role Overview

As part of our Systems Delivery Group, the Software Integration Engineer contributes to the development and integration of the Saab 9LV Combat Management System, a naval command and control system that integrates sensors, weapons, and data to provide situational awareness and decision support for maritime operations. The role is responsible for integrating and testing mission essential and safety critical software.

Responsibilities

* Develop a broad understanding of the operational use of the associated systems.
* Maintain software integration environments, including integration and installation of software and equipment into test reference sites and Linux‐based environments.
* Troubleshoot system issues related to Linux servers, networking infrastructure, VMs and containers in distributed environments.
* Participate in reviews of software and documentation.
* Document integration processes, system configurations and troubleshooting guides.
* Prepare test documentation, conduct Integration Testing, System Testing and support Test Readiness Review.
* Maintain assigned Jira tasks, log defects with sufficient detail.
* Carry out tasks in line with Saab Australia and Australian Defence policies, protecting classified information and complying with ITAR and export control requirements.
* Travel interstate to support system deployments, troubleshooting and collaboration with remote teams.

Essential Qualifications

* Tertiary qualifications (bachelor's degree) in a relevant discipline or equivalent relevant experience, preferably within the defence industry.
* Experience with configuration, management and troubleshooting of IP networks to enable secure and efficient data flow between integrated systems.
* Familiarity with containerised applications using Docker, and the implementation, deployment, management and configuration of such applications.
* Ability to deploy, manage and troubleshoot Linux‐based virtual machines and network environments.
* Skilled in developing and maintaining automation scripts using Bash, Python and Ansible.
* Apply configuration management principles and use Git to ensure controlled and traceable development of software products.
* Demonstrate appreciation of agile methodologies and systems engineering practices and apply them appropriately throughout the software development lifecycle.

Desirable Qualifications

* Familiarity with complex software‐intensive systems (e.g., military systems) or related defence technologies.
* Experience with tools and technologies such as DDS, IBM DOORS, and the Atlassian tool suite.
* Skilled in designing and implementing test automation solutions, including the use of test automation frameworks.

Compliance & Security

A defense security clearance is required for this role. Applicants must hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance, preferably to NV1 level, or have the ability to obtain one. Information regarding nationality and citizenship may be requested to verify eligibility for access to materials controlled under export control regimes, including ITAR.
