About The Role
To put it simply… You will manage the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the TVPS generation assets and support the Plant Performance team in your area of expertise.
Responsibilities
* Operate and optimise CCGT, OCGT, HRSG, WTP and steam turbine systems
* Participate in the continuous 24/7 shift roster
* Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on critical assets
* Diagnose faults and implement solutions to maintain reliability
* Manage plant isolations and issue permits for safe work practices
* Coordinate contractors and monitor compliance with safety standards
* Prepare reports, logs, and technical documentation for performance tracking
Qualifications
You are a qualified and safety-focused technician with proven experience in thermal power generation and turbine operations. You hold essential certifications including turbine and boiler operator competency, Certificate IV ESI (Generation), high voltage switching and generator control, as well as confined space, gas testing, first aid, and LV rescue. Your background includes operating and maintaining thermal and gas turbines, HV switchyards, and LV/HV distribution systems, supported by strong trade or technical expertise in electrical, instrumentation, or mechanical disciplines.
You bring advanced fault-finding and maintenance skills, the ability to plan and manage priorities, and excellent communication for reporting and teamwork. Proficiency with operational computer systems and a commitment to OH&S are key strengths. Desirable extras include leadership qualifications, hazardous area wiring, restricted electrical or gas licences, and high‑risk work certifications such as forklift, EWP, and working at heights.

Salary ranges from $103,846 - $127,382 based on experience, plus superannuation.
The Tamar Valley Power Station was originally commissioned by Aurora Energy in 2009 and acquired by AETV Pty Ltd (AETV) in June 2013 as a subsidiary company of Hydro Tasmania. The 386 MW station comprises 208 MW of Combined Cycle Gas generation (CCGT) and 178 MW of Open Cycle Gas generation (OCGT).
