Animal Health Australia (AHA) is the trusted and independent national animal health body in Australia, bringing together government and industry to deliver animal health and biosecurity projects and outcomes. About the role
As the Technical Services Manager, you will report to the Head of Technical Services and play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and managing programs that support Australia's livestock biosecurity system. Your expertise will help ensure operational excellence and foster innovative solutions to meet the needs of our members and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate projects to enhance national biosecurity and emergency preparedness, in alignment with AHA's Strategic Plan.
* Utilise scientific and technical knowledge to support a diverse portfolio of activities, including emergency animal disease exercises and laboratory operations.
* Identify project risks, implement controls, and manage budgets efficiently.
* Provide expert technical advice across vaccine banks, animal disease exercises, and emerging biosecurity threats.
* Support data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform strategic decisions and improve disease control strategies.
* Develop policies and ensure compliance with national animal health and welfare standards.
* Engage with government agencies, veterinary services, and other key stakeholders to bolster disease control efforts.
* Contribute to organisational culture by upholding AHA's code of conduct and values, and by supporting colleagues and members.
What You'll Bring
Essential
* Tertiary qualifications in Animal or Veterinary Science or a related discipline.
* Demonstrated experience in a technical management capacity within animal health or disease control.
* Strong project/program management skills and a record of delivering successful project outcomes.
* Creative, analytical mindset with confidence in solving complex issues.
* Excellent time management, organisational abilities, and capacity to juggle multiple priorities.
* Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with members and stakeholders.
* Proficiency in SharePoint, Teams, MS Office Suite, and related applications.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Desirable
* Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field.
* Formal qualifications in Project Management
* Experience in financial and budget monitoring and reporting for projects.
* Background in working with government agencies and industry bodies.
* Familiarity with biosecurity-specific software and tools.
