About the role
We are seeking an experienced Higher Education Policy Writer to lead the drafting and finalisation of two priority university policies. This 8‐week HEW 7 engagement requires someone who has previously written formal university or TAFE policies, worked within institutional governance frameworks, and can produce clear, compliance‐ready policy documents with minimal direction.
You will work closely with the Fees Team and relevant stakeholders to consolidate existing discovery work into a new Refund Policy and complete refinements to the Scholarships & Prizes Policy.
Key responsibilities
* Develop a consolidated Refund Policy using prior discovery materials
* Validate draft content with stakeholders including Fees, International Admissions, and Finance
* Benchmark against comparable policies from other Australian institutions
* Refine the Scholarships and Prizes Policy draft, focusing on scholarships and gifts
* Prepare both policies in governance‐ready format using approved templates

This Role Is Ideal For Someone Who Has:
* Worked at Executive Officer / Policy Officer / Governance Officer level within higher education
* Strong understanding of policy templates, approval pathways, and academic governance
* Experience drafting student, compliance, or administrative policies
* Ability to manage stakeholder consultation and validation processes
* Ability to consolidate dispersed information and produce clear, structured policy documents
* Strong stakeholder engagement capability, ideally within HE
