The Social Work Department provides services to various programs, including acute inpatient care, community rehabilitation, outpatient services, antenatal care, palliative care, and transition care. This position involves managing the Social Work department, performing high-level administrative duties, and engaging in advanced clinical activities. The Social Work Manager is also responsible for advocacy and education within the organisation.
Key responsibilities include providing clinical leadership, managing human and financial resources, and ensuring quality and safety systems are in place. This involves maintaining policies and procedures, managing risks and incidents, handling feedback and complaints, and ensuring staff training and supervision. The manager must also ensure the service delivery model meets community needs and complies with relevant policies and legislation.
Additionally, the role requires networking with other agencies, advising on new trends, and demonstrating strong decision-making, communication, and organisational skills. The manager is responsible for staff credentialing and maintaining medical records to appropriate standards, reporting to the Deputy Director of Allied & Community Health.
This is a permanent full-time position of up to 76 or 80 hours per fortnight. Job share arrangement will also be considered.
Our preferred candidate will have:
- Degree or Masters in Social Work and significant clinical and supervisory experience in a Social Work setting.
- Eligibility of membership with Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Current Victorian Driver License.
The following experience/qualifications would be considered advantageous:
- Post Graduate Qualification in Social Work or related health management.
- Knowledge of privacy legislation and document control.
- Previous experience within a hospital or health care environment.
- Knowledge of issues relevant to rural areas is an advantage.
IMPORTANT: Some roles in the healthcare sector are required to be vaccinated annually for Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.
