Culinary Expert
We are seeking a skilled Culinary Expert to join our team.
* Job Summary:
* A full-time Culinary Expert position is available in a fast-paced kitchen, responsible for preparing and cooking a diverse range of dishes for both daytime and evening service. The successful candidate will follow established recipes and directions from the chef to ensure quality, consistency, and efficiency.
* The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and allergen management, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with chefs, baristas, and front-of-house staff.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and cook a diverse range of dishes, ensuring quality, consistency, and efficiency.
* Assist in planning and developing seasonal or event-based menu items, including estimating quantities of ingredients and supporting with menu costings when required.
* Maintain daily mise-en-place across all sections, ensuring readiness for service periods and a clean, organized workstation throughout the day.
* Presentation dishes attractively and consistently, in line with the venue's casual-modern dining standards.
* Coordinate the preparation of meals during peak times, ensuring prompt and accurate delivery to customers.
* Monitor the freshness and quality of all food items, checking raw and cooked ingredients for spoilage or inconsistencies and rotating stock as necessary.
* Receive, check, and properly store incoming food deliveries, ensuring they meet food safety standards and are stored in accordance with temperature control guidelines.
* Operate and care for kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, reporting any faults or maintenance issues to the chef.
* Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, equipment, and storage facilities regularly, ensuring the kitchen meets all health and safety regulations.
* Regulate cooking equipment temperatures to ensure dishes are prepared correctly and to the desired standard.
* Work collaboratively with the wider team to manage workflow, resolve issues, and respond to changing service demands.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
* Kitchen Experience:
* A minimum of 2 years' experience working in a commercial kitchen environment.
* Chef Qualifications:
* A recognised culinary qualification (e.g. Level 3 Diploma in Professional Cookery).
* Personal Qualities:
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Able to work well under pressure and maintain a calm and composed demeanor during busy periods.
