About the Role
As a Financial Planning Associate, you will undertake execution and implementation of financial strategies under the supervision of Senior Financial Advisers. This role is responsible for preparing and executing investment and insurance transactions, monitoring portfolios, and managing client financial processes in alignment with firm policies and regulatory standards.
This position requires a solid financial background and a practical understanding of financial products, strategies, and compliance requirements consistent with the skill level of a Financial Adviser.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend client meetings with Senior Financial Planners to understand clients’ financial goals and risk tolerance, contribute to discussions, determine appropriate strategies, and in implementing agreed solutions.
- Discuss Strategies with Senior Financial Advisors in order to facilitate client reviews.
- Coordinate and prepare pre-work for client review meetings, including research, modelling, and documentation.
- Prepare and develop financial planning strategies and plans (Statements of Advice (SoAs) and Records of Advice (RoAs), covering superannuation, retirement, taxation, debt management, cashflow management, and risk management.
- Execute transactions for managed funds, Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), direct equities, and other investment products in line with client strategies and risk profiles.
- Conduct portfolio monitoring and rebalancing to ensure alignment with client risk profiles and market conditions.
- Implement insurance strategies, including obtaining quotes, facilitating coverage, and conducting needs analyses.
- Review corporate actions on client accounts and make necessary adjustments.
- Prepare cost bases for investments to support asset transfers and financial reporting.
- Build financial modelling and scenario analyses, considering taxation, spending, and market factors.
- Facilitate referrals to external professionals (e.g., solicitors, accountants) when required.
- Regularly assess the liquidity of accounts and facilitate cash adjustments as needed.
- Prepare and compile end-of-financial-year documentation and reports for internal and external accountants.
- Ensure all client files, documentation, and transactions comply with legislation, regulatory standards, and firm policies.
About You
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, or a related field.
- Previous experience in financial planning, or wealth management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modelling skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with financial planning software (e.g., Xplan) is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional team environment.
