Contract role till end of June 2026 with a possible extension Attractive hourly pay rate of $160/hr super 8 hours per day/ 40 hours per week Hybrid (Work from home Canberra) Interstate candidates will also be considered for remote working PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: Working with an ACT State Government department, you will focus on the discovery, analysis, and documentation of server infrastructure dependencies to enable the successful replacement of ageing assets. Working within the ServiceNow CMDB environment, you will validate and enrich configuration data, support server migration planning, and ensure alignment with enterprise standards for operational resilience, cybersecurity, and service continuity. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Analyse infrastructure data within the ServiceNow CMDB, identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for enrichment. Conduct manual discovery of server dependencies using log analysis, stakeholder interviews, and network traffic reviews. Collaborate with Systems Analysts and Application Owners to confirm system mappings and usage patterns. Engage with technical teams and business stakeholders to assess current state infrastructure and recommend future state improvements. Document technical specifications and assist in planning server replacements or migrations aligned with the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) Support server decommissioning and provisioning activities as part of the asset refresh lifecycle. Ensure CMDB data integrity and compliance with ITIL and ACT Government governance standards. Assist in post-migration validation and monitoring setup to ensure continuity and performance. ESSENTIAL REQUIRMENTS: Hands-on experience with CMDB operations, including configuration item (CI) management and data modelling. Strong understanding of server infrastructure (Windows/Linux), virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure). Experience in infrastructure analysis, system documentation, and technical troubleshooting. Familiarity with ITIL processes and change management practices. Ability to conduct manual discovery using tools such as log analysers, network monitors, and stakeholder interviews. Excellent communication skills for engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to support infrastructure transformation. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic project team. Experience with scripting or automation in ServiceNow (e.g., Business Rules, Workflows). Exposure to infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet). Relevant certifications such as ServiceNow Certified System Administrator or ITIL Foundation.
