Security Operations Manager | Permanent| Sydney| $165k package
An opportunity exists for a Security Operations Manager within a financial services organisation operating in an APRA-regulated environment.
This role is responsible for the day-to-day security operations function, including oversight of the outsourced Security Operations Centre (SOC), incident management, vulnerability management, and cyber resilience preparedness.
The position acts as the operational bridge between Information Security, Engineering, and Technology Operations teams to ensure security controls are embedded, practical, and consistently implemented.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and manage the outsourced Security Operations Centre (SOC)
* Coordinate security incident management, investigation, containment and resolution
* Drive improvements in detection and response capability
* Develop and maintain cyber resilience playbooks and operational preparedness practices
* Coordinate vulnerability management across engineering and operations teams
* Conduct security and third-party risk assessments
* Support compliance with APRA CPS 234 and CPS 230
* Embed security requirements into operational processes including change and incident management
Experience & Skills Required
* 5+ years’ experience in cybersecurity, with exposure to security operations or incident response
* Experience working with engineering and technology operations teams
* Knowledge of information security technologies (firewalls, DLP, encryption, endpoint security)
* Cloud security knowledge (Azure, Microsoft 365 and/or AWS)
* Experience overseeing third-party providers such as outsourced SOC/MSSP services
* Understanding of security frameworks such as NIST CSF and CPS 234
* Financial services or other regulated industry experience preferred
* Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, CISA) desirable.
