Job Summary:
As a Trend Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation of project-specific cost control and reporting procedures, estimating, analysis, and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements.
* Undertake trend detection recording, monitoring, and reporting to the project management team.
* Forecast cost and schedule impacts on budget resulting from trends and suggest mitigation plans.
* Understand Bechtel's trend process and subcontracts/key requirements for changes in contracts.
* Assist in analyzing specially assigned change-related initiatives or work planning requiring detailed change assessment and response planning efforts.
* Support the overall trend program schedule and initiate trend focus meetings through cooperation with all disciplines to achieve a successful trend programme.
* Support the timely preparation of cost estimates, prepare and analyze comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projects, perform productivity analysis of construction operations, and verify results.
* Prepare or supervise the preparation of cost studies utilizing historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons, develop innovative new techniques to meet specific needs, as required.
* Develop trend evaluations, verify consistency with previous reports to ensure compatibility, and issue reports required by management and project procedures.
* Understand the project budget and scope, monitor project development, flag deviations from budget, and prepare and evaluate trends.
* Assist in developing unit job-hour and pricing data for a specific discipline or other specialty, perform data analysis, identify problems, and make recommendations.
Education and Experience Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience
* Prior trend experience viewed favorably
Required Knowledge and Skills:
* Knowledge of estimating methods, processes, and procedures
* Knowledge and experience in quantity takeoffs, statistical analysis, and cost and price analysis
* Skilled in understanding and implementing technical discipline processes, engineering drawings, quantity determinations, and mathematical and financial reports
* Thorough understanding of cost indices and escalation projection sources
* Contribute to risk and contingency assessments
* Skilled in oral and written communications, including presentation skills and ability to address the project management team
