Principal Design Consultant - Secondary

About the role
We are seeking a Principal Design Consultant to lead strategic, senior engineering delivery. The role involves providing expert technical guidance, mentorship, risk management, and staying current with industry trends. You will collaborate with utilities, major project partners, and internal teams to deliver high‑value, high‑risk projects exceeding $50M.
Key responsibilities
* Execute Enerven growth strategy by de‑risking strategic and major projects during tender and bid development.
* Mentor Senior and Junior Design Managers.
* Provide a centre of excellence for developing engineering value‑adding solutions.
* Implement efficiency opportunities for high‑performance, sustainable long‑term engineering solutions.
* Support bid development and early works, working closely with the Head of Bids and Proposals and the Manager of Engineering Delivery.
About you
Approximately 20 years of experience in renewables, electrical infrastructure, utilities, with strong background in concept design, tenders, and bid support. Expertise in Secondary Systems, Protection, SCADA, and Industrial Cybersecurity, with proven ability to deliver innovative, value‑adding engineering solutions.
Specific qualifications and experience required
* Degree in Engineering, Chartered Member of the Institute of Engineers, Australia.
* Specialised cross‑discipline technical expertise within substation, transmission, BESS, or Wind engineering, with particular strength in protection, automation or security systems.
* Experience in schedule, cost and risk management.
* Background in EPC or contracting.
