Your Opportunity
The Fitter is responsible for providing high-quality maintenance fitting services to ensure Region plant and equipment are maintained and repaired in accordance with required operational standards.
This position reports to the Operations Manager.
This is a Permanent, Full-time opportunity.
The position will be based primarily at Acacia Ridge however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to the success of cultural change within the organisation through promoting and modelling SkillsTech's core values and Agreed Behaviours and the established TAFE Queensland values of Safety First, Working Together, Focussing on our Customer, Showing Initiative and Taking Responsibility.
* Undertake a range of duties to ensure the effective functioning of Region equipment and machinery, including assembly and installation, fabrication, maintenance and repair, quality control and safety adherence.
* Perform precision maintenance, repairs, and fabrication on a range of Region plant, tools and equipment, including diagnosing and repairing faults, and undertaking modifications as required.
* D evelop, implement and maintain preventative maintenance schedules to meet compliance and audit requirements, including workplace health and safety and manufacturer specifications.
* Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair works undertaken to ensure compliance with various audit, legislative and/or regulatory requirements.
* Determine resource, material, and equipment requirements to enable the timely completion of work requests, escalating these requirements to the Operations Manager for expenditure approval.
* Communicate in a courteous manner with other Region employees and external clients, including students and contractors, on matters associated with the provision of effective maintenance services.
* Utilise a range of computerised information systems and software applications including Archibus, SMART360, human resource systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Maintain a safe work environment in relation to facilities operations, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and TAFE Queensland and Region workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
* Proactively participate in local Performance Planning and Development (PPD) processes, seeking opportunities for self-development.
How You Will Be Assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:
* Demonstrated mechanical knowledge and a proven ability to utilise a range of specialised tools and techniques to assemble, maintain, repair and fabricate machinery and equipment.
* Knowledge of relevant standards, practices and procedures, and the ability to apply this knowledge operationally to ensure the provision of a safe working environment.
* Proven ability to determine work priorities, diagnose issues and identify practical solutions, and effectively utilise available resources to support the achievement of maintenance priorities.
* Sound interpersonal and written communication skills as demonstrated by an ability to relate to a wide range of both internal and external stakeholders, and accurately maintain records and documentation relevant to completed works.
* Ability to work under guidance with minimal supervision and contribute effectively to team objectives.
Mandatory Qualifications/Requirements
* Possession of a Trade Certificate in Fitting and Turning or other similar trade qualification, e.g. Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (MEM30219).
Highly Desirable Requirements
* Current valid Open 'C' Class Driver Licence.
* Restricted LR (Light Rigid) Licence.
