We manage approximately 50 grants and operate various businesses and programs, including Housing, Civil Works, Essential Services, Bábbarra Women’s Centre, Bawinanga Rangers, Barlmarrk Supermarket, Fuel Supplies, Mechanical Workshops, Arts and Culture/Djomi Museum, Wild Foods Café, Community Patrol, Employment Services, and Money Management Services.The organization is governed by a Board of Directors elected biennially by its members. Policies are developed at the executive level, implemented by the CEO and Senior Management team.BAC’s mission is to enhance the lives of our people on land and sea, fostering the preservation and growth of culture and language.Our core values are Trust, Transparency, Innovation, and Partnership, guiding our principles and behaviors in all operations.Primary Responsibilities:This role involves providing light vehicle servicing in the BAC workshop.Key Accountabilities:Adhere to Workplace Health and Safety regulations, maintain high housekeeping standards, and report incidents.Work effectively within a team and collaborate with the spare parts retail outlet and administration staff.Complete all job cards and documentation for billing and parts ordering.Maintain equipment safely and report issues promptly.Identify and diagnose mechanical issues for internal and external customers, providing effective solutions.Supervise and train Aboriginal apprentice mechanics and tyre fitters.Maintain high standards of customer care and workmanship.Be proactive and take initiative within the workshop.Provide excellent customer service to all clients.Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.Develop and sustain positive stakeholder relationships with BAC staff and external partners, offering honest support and feedback.Ensure effective communication with BAC employees, directors, communities, stakeholders, and partner organizations.Perform any other duties within your capabilities as assigned by your supervisor.Desired Skills and ExperienceSelection Criteria:At least 2.2 years of post-trade experience in a light vehicle workshop.Excellent customer service skills and high-quality mechanical service delivery.Experience working in remote Aboriginal communities, with understanding of Aboriginal protocols and culture.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety regulations.Ability to build and maintain positive stakeholder relationships and provide honest support and feedback.Experience mentoring and training Indigenous apprentice mechanics.Previous supervision and coordination experience with tyre fitters.Proficiency in completing all documentation related to vehicle repairs and parts ordering.Ability to undertake Roadworthy certifications per NT Government standards.Valid driver’s license.National Police Clearance with no criminal convictions.Experience living and working in remote communities.Current Australian LR/HR/MC Driver’s License.Heavy Rigid or Tow Truck license.These roles are full-time, with wages plus overtime and penalty rates.
