Job Overview
Jensen Hughes is seeking a Corporate Counsel to support our growing business across Asia and the Pacific region. This role acts as a true partner to the business, providing strategic support to key functions and assisting a variety of teams. Reporting to the US General Counsel, the position offers high visibility and the opportunity to contribute to global business strategies while delivering high‑quality legal support to engineers, consultants, and analysts serving our clients worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Support regional compliance initiatives related to privacy, data security, and other regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement legal policies and procedures.
- Advise on employment issues, including employment law, immigration compliance, and related HR legal matters.
- Support the drafting, review, and negotiation of commercial contracts and professional services agreements.
- Assist with commercial litigation matters, including dispute resolution and legal risk assessments.
- Provide guidance on corporate governance, business formation, and general corporate law matters within the North American region.
- Monitor legal developments affecting the business and advise on necessary updates or changes.
- Work closely with external counsel as needed and support internal legal projects.
Requirements and Qualifications
- 10 years of general practice experience as an attorney in a law firm or in‑house counsel generalist role. Employment, immigration, and/or corporate transactional experience preferred.
- Fluent in English and able to speak at least one of the following languages: Mandarin, Cantonese, or Korean.
- Experience working in Australia, New Zealand, and Asia (South Korea, Macau, or Shanghai).
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non‑legal partners at all levels of the organization.
- Experience communicating with executive level.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, project management, and business acumen.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take initiative.
- Approachable, flexible, and adaptable to change in a fast‑paced setting.
- Ability to work across domestic and global time zones.
- Experience in Building Construction or Professional Services industry is highly regarded.
