SafeWork NSW, State Team Coordinator – Manager, Dangerous Goods & ExplosivesGrade:State Team CoordinatorSalary:$154,925 - $156,387 + SuperannuationLocation: Parramatta and GosfordDuration: Ongoing Applications Close: Wednesday 25th June 2025 (9:59AM)About the team:Dangerous Goods & Explosives (DG&E) team is responsible for administering the WHS legislation, the Explosives legislation and some aspects of the Dangerous Goods (Road and Rail Transport) legislation. In the area of hazardous chemicals, the team regulates compliance for all schedule 11 manifest quantity workplaces (MQW) and potential major hazard facilities sites in NSW. Under the Explosives legislation the team is responsible for assessing, reviewing and making recommendations for licence applications made by individuals and businesses, this includes pyrotechnicians. The team also provides technical support to internal and external customers and works collaboratively with the Licensing team to ensure the Explosive licensing applications are processed effectively and efficiently.About the role:This opportunity would suit an enthusiastic and agile leader with the ability to:Coordinate, manage and support a team of professionals that includes Inspectors, specialists, project officers and support staff.Provide team supervision and operational support in the office and the field to ensure services and decisions align with our strategic plan, regulatory priorities, legislation, policies and procedures, customer service standards, which are consistent,professional and responsive.Offer advice regarding safe work practices and how to comply with relevant work health and safety and explosives laws.Support the community and people of NSW by identifying emerging issues and industry trends and supporting implementation of prevention and response programs of work across both the dangerous goods and explosives sectors.Build and maintain effective and professional working relationships with customers and stakeholders to improve WHS outcomes and maintain safety and security standards for explosives.Provide coaching and mentoring to team members, ensuring internal administrative and organisational requirements are completed.Deliver presentations, workshops, advisory services and forums.Contribute to a positive, inclusive and accountable workplace culture.About youDemonstrated understanding of the dangerous goods & explosives sectorsDemonstrated strong stakeholder engagement skills across all levelsAbility to provide strong leadership and inspire people and directionHigh level oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to deal with complex matters including collaboration with National and State cross agency jurisdictions.To be successfulIn joining SafeWork NSW, you will be rewarded with a great opportunity to apply your experience with your passion for workplace health and safety. You will:Work a 38-hour working week, including some weekends and participate in the After-Hours Emergency Response ServiceReceive an attractive salary package along with the required tools of the trade, including a vehicle with access to private use (currently at a cost of approximately $210 per fortnight)Be able to access flexible working conditions within operational requirementsEssential requirementsAbility to travel, work remotely and out of usual business hoursHold a NSW ‘C’ class drivers' licence with a satisfactory safe driving record and a requirement to maintain the safe driving record throughout employmentSatisfactory criminal record checkSatisfactory medical assessment capacity regarding physical and psychological impacts of the inherent duties of the roleUndertake the 12-month New Inspector Training Program (NITP). This intensive program is delivered by our Registered Training Organisation and combines mandatory components of induction, class training, online learning, completion of set assessments and tasks, and extensive on-the-job field training with regular travel throughout NSW.
