Task & responsibilities
* Determining type and dimensions of glass required
* Laying glass over patterns on padded tables and in jigs
* Measuring and marking glass for cutting precisely based on drawings, templates, or client instructions
* Examining glass and marking defective areas before use
* Cutting along patterns and templates using professional glass‑cutting tools
* Breaking off sheets and excess glass with notched tools and glass pliers
* Removing old or broken glass safely, prepare window frames or surrounds, and ensure that new glass fits correctly
* Smoothing rough edges using belt sanders and smoothing wheels
* May coat, cut, etch, trim and treat glass to achieve special effects
* Ensure all glass installations meet Australian quality and safety standards
* Maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and safe working conditions
* Follow all workplace health and safety rules, including the safe handling and transportation of glass
Qualification & experience
* Certificate IV in Glass & Glazing or 3 years' experience in relevant field
* Proficiency in measuring, cutting, and installing glass in challenging settings
