We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer with approximately 3–5 years' industry experience to join our growing team. This role will suit an engineer who is confident in planning and delivering geotechnical investigations and developing geotechnical designs, particularly in relation to slope instability, landslip remediation, and soft or complex ground conditions.
About the Role
This is a hybrid full-time role that can be based in either Coolangatta, QLD or Coffs Harbour, NSW.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, managing and reporting geotechnical site investigations, including providing support and mentorship to our Cadet Engineers. Responsibilities also include preparation of Geotechnical Factual Reports (GFRs), slope stability analysis, and the design of a range of slope reinforcement and remediation options.
The role involves contributing to Geotechnical Interpretative Reports (GFRs) and Geotechnical Design Reports, collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams, and providing technical geotechnical input throughout the project lifecycle. You will work across a range of public-sector and local-government infrastructure projects throughout Northern and the Mid-North Coast of NSW.
Typical tasks include:
* Planning, scoping, supervising and managing geotechnical site investigations.
* Preparing GFRs and assisting in the development of GIRs.
* Slope instability assessment and concept to detailed design of remediation options (e.g., soil nails, high tensile steel mesh systems, gravity retaining structures, embankment stabilisation).
* Development of geotechnical models, parameters, and technical risk assessments.
* Collaboration with civil designers, project managers, clients, and local councils.
* Undertaken occasional fieldwork on regional projects.
About You
You will have:
* A bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent).
* 3 - 5 years' experience in geotechnical investigation and design.
* Demonstrated capability in slope engineering and remediation design.
* Strong reporting skills and experience preparing GFRs and contributing to GIRs.
* Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards (AS1726, AS1289, AS4678, AS5100, etc.)
* Familiarity with TfNSW geotechnical framework (highly regarded)
* Experience with geotechnical software such as Geo5, PLAXIS, Rocscience) (highly regarded).
* A proactive approach to safety, quality, and project delivery.
* Current driver's licence and willingness to undertake fieldwork.
