Are you someone who thrives on helping others feel seen, heard and supported, especially in their time of need? Join a passionate, multi-agency team that's the first point of contact for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness who contact the Adelaide North West Homelessness Alliance.

We're looking for a calm, capable and compassionate Customer Service Officer (CSO) to be the welcoming voice on the other end of the phone. Your role will be central to helping people navigate their way to the right support, while keeping the flow of information to assist service delivery running smoothly behind the scenes.

We are offering a part-time fixed-term role, concluding on 30 June 2026.

What you'll do

* Be the first point of contact for individuals seeking help, providing respectful, timely, and practical responses over the phone.
* Collect and record key information to support client triage and referrals by the broader Access Team.
* Support people through the initial steps of their journey, offering realistic guidance that aligns with sector trends and Alliance messaging.
* Manage call-backs to check in on client circumstances or progress where appropriate.
* Handle enquiries with sensitivity and care, particularly when customers are distressed or in crisis.
* Provide general administration support, keeping data accurate and up‐to‐date, compiling resources, and contributing to trend reporting and team insights.

What you'll bring

* A Certificate III (minimum) in Community Services, Business Administration or equivalent.
* Strong background in customer service, ideally with experience supporting vulnerable or marginalised people.
* A confident, professional and warm telephone manner, maintaining customer dignity even when under pressure.
* The ability to stay calm and solution-focused in challenging situations.
* High level of attention to detail and confidence using Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
* A strong understanding of maintaining privacy and confidentiality of customer information.
* A team player mindset, with a genuine commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement.

Other essentials

* Current Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, and National Police Clearance.
* Safe Environments for Children and Young People – Through Their Eyes certificate (or willingness to obtain).

At UnitingSA, we've been supporting South Australians for over 100 years, walking alongside people through life's challenges and empowering them to live their best lives. With services spanning aged care, housing, mental health, employment and disability support, we're committed to building strong, inclusive communities.

As an Access Customer Service Officer, you'll play a vital part in our mission to create opportunity and justice by ensuring people in crisis are met with compassion, dignity and timely support. Your work at the frontline will directly contribute to our goal of reducing homelessness and strengthening the wellbeing of people in our communities.

What's in it for you?

* Salary Packaging: Access up to $15,900 tax‐free, plus $2,650 annually via Meal and Entertainment Card, and novated vehicle leasing.
* Leave Loading: 17.5% on your annual leave.
* Wellbeing Support: Employee Assistance Programme and discounted health insurance.
* A dog friendly workplace with regular furry visitors.
* Career Growth: Ongoing training and professional development.
* Flexible Work: Casual Fridays and a relaxed team environment.
* Parental Leave: 6 weeks of paid parental leave.
