This role is responsible for the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of thermoforming and contract packing projects, ensuring production efficiency, DIFOT performance, employee engagement and continuous improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Operations:Manage all production work centres and schedule machines, allocating labour and resources accordinglyPlan, manage and continuously review production schedules to optimise efficiency, OEE and DIFOTEnsure safe and efficient production in line with quality standards and customer specificationsOversee daily production reporting including output, efficiency, waste, rejects and downtimeReview reports and implement corrective and improvement actionsEnsure products are produced and packed to specificationMaintain QA protocols and ensure QA records are completed accuratelyProvide first-off production samples to Sales and Customer ServiceWork closely with Customer Service and Warehouse teams to understand demand requirementsPeople & Leadership:Lead, motivate and manage all production staff to maximise productivity and cost efficiencyOversee attendance, performance, behaviour, efficiencies and quality standardsMaintain and develop employee skills matrix and succession depthIdentify training gaps and implement cross-training strategiesOversee induction and training of new staffFoster a positive, safe and engaged workplace cultureSafety, Quality & Compliance:Demonstrate a strong commitment to a Zero Harm safety mindsetEnsure compliance with WHS policies, procedures and legislationOversee risk management processes and safety systemsEnsure machinery complies with mandatory safety requirementsMaintain clean, safe and organised production and warehouse areasSupport and maintain ISO & HACCP accreditationContinuous Improvement & Cost Control:Implement systems to measure productivity, waste, downtime, labour and costsDrive continuous improvement and LEAN manufacturing initiativesProvide input into costing of new work and projectsReport daily on key production metricsReduce operating and casual labour costs through improved planning and efficiencyMaintenance & Equipment:Oversee routine maintenance, repairs and replacement of production equipmentCoordinate external service providers and contractorsEnsure maintenance records are completed and compliantSkills, Experience & QualificationsEssential:Proven experience in production or manufacturing managementStrong leadership and people management capabilitySolid understanding of WHS regulations and risk managementExperience reporting on production KPIs (OEE, efficiency, waste, downtime)Strong systems and process disciplineHigh attention to detail with the ability to manage competing prioritiesProficiency in MS Office and ERP systemsHighly Regarded:Experience with LEAN manufacturing principlesBasic mechanical background working with toolmakers, die setters and maintenance teamsTrade, technical or tertiary qualificationsExperience in packaging, thermoforming or contract manufacturing environments
