Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Blast Operator to join our team. As a Blast Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of drilling services provided and assisting Shotfirers to deliver high-quality blasting to the open pit mining teams.
Main Responsibilities:
* Assist shotfirers in on-bench activities, blasthole QA/QC, delineate, priming, loading, stemming, off-siding MMU's and tie-in as directed.
* Verify that drilling activities are completed correctly and identify issues of poor-quality drilling early to ensure redrills are completed.
* Perform blast guard duties just prior to blasting activity to ensure the safety of all personnel and that they are removed from the area.
* Utilize Blast IQ to minimize delays in blasting and maintain quality records.
* Maintain occupational health and safety standards relevant to operations.
* Consider occupational health and safety issues in all aspects of duties performed.
* Maintain high standards of performance and adopt a proactive approach to occupational health and safety issues.
* Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and company policies and practices.
* Report all observed safety incidents and hazards.
* Complete Take-5's before starting each task or midway through a task if conditions change.
* Perform all tasks in a professional and diligent manner and always treat others with dignity, respect and fairness.
* Maintain good working relationships with superiors, peers and all internal as well as external clients.
This is a permanent full-time role based at our Pilgangoora Operation which operates on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth.
