We are seeking a qualified Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of major capital works across NSW government infrastructure projects. This role sits within the Business Enablement /Risk and Assurance team, which is driving innovation through digital design, cost management, and Modern Methods of Construction.
Primary Purpose of the Role The Quantity Surveyor will optimise project margins and add value across the construction lifecycle through proactive involvement in procurement, cost management, commercial reporting and risk management.
The role plays a key part in maximising the value of monthly progress claims, managing contract variations, and ensuring the timely submission and negotiation of final accounts with clients, head contractors and subcontractors.
Key Accountabilities
* Provide independent quantity surveying, cost and risk management advice to internal and external stakeholders.
* Deliver cost planning advice across all design stages, including replacement cost analysis prior to site investigations.
* Support construction teams with estimating queries, feasibility studies and multi-trade cost plans.
* Assist with early-phase cost estimation to support development feasibilities and ensure adherence to project budgets.
* Prepare tender analysis spreadsheets, monitor project cash flows and track purchasing targets.
* Conduct monthly valuations of work in progress, forecast final project costs and report cost impacts arising from design development.
* Monitor all commercial information including labour, material and subcontractor costs to ensure budgets are maintained.
* Ensure external cost plans comply with policies and procedures, including the measurement, valuation, submission and negotiation of variations.
* Produce accurate and timely commercial and financial reports in line with business reporting cycles.

* Maximising value from monthly claims and contract variations while meeting strict timeframes.
* Driving best-value outcomes from suppliers and subcontractors through ongoing financial reviews.
* Forecasting final project costs accurately across multiple concurrent projects.
* Building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal teams, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
About You
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
* Proven experience in cost management and commercial administration across construction projects.
* Strong understanding of procurement, contract variations and final account negotiations.
* Experience working across multi-trade environments and complex project portfolios.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
* Experience within government or large infrastructure environments will be highly regarded.
