Electronic Systems Technician
We are seeking an Electronics Specialist to work on cutting-edge electronics and radio frequency systems supporting major national and international astronomy projects.
This role involves working on a diverse range of electronic equipment, from low-noise cryogenic receivers to precision timing systems. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team while enjoying the lifestyle advantages of rural Narrabri in a Mon – Fri role.
Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor system performance and maintain the Observatory's radio frequency and associated electronic systems to ensure high levels of availability.
* Undertake fault diagnosis and corrective maintenance on specialized analogue and digital radio frequency electronic equipment.
* Repair electronic equipment and modules down to the component level.
* Identify potential spare issues or failure modes and collaborate with external suppliers or staff at other ATNF sites to determine suitable replacement parts or alternative solutions.
* Participate in planning and design of new instrumentation projects for the Observatory, working closely with colleagues at other ATNF sites and within CSIRO.
Required Skills:
* Experience in electronic systems and fault diagnosis.
* Ability to work under limited direction and undertake tasks independently.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
