Senior Accountant - Financial Reporting & Delivery

The Role:

As the Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for curating financial information, driving continuous improvement, and embracing adaptability.
This position involves coordinating and preparing the financial and regulatory reports of the Suncorp Group and its subsidiaries to ensure compliance with all reporting requirements.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Financial Reporting & Delivery team in meeting statutory and regulatory reporting requirements, championing best practices, and delivering exceptional results.
* Ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial reports to executive managers and stakeholders, fostering informed decision-making.
* Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including movement commentary, collaborating with business segments and the Finance Advisory team to address significant accounting matters.
* Promote technical curiosity within the team, enhance issue identification capabilities, and facilitate proactive communication of issues.
* Engage external advisors for financial and regulatory reporting guidance within agreed budget parameters.
* Nurture relationships with external auditors, lead engagements, and provide necessary information.
Your Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Commerce (or equivalent).
* Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) qualification.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in financial reporting, preferably in a medium to large financial services institution or Big4 audit and assurance services.
* Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and financial statement disclosures, either in a commercial setting or professional services firm.
* Familiarity with ASIC regulatory guidelines, class orders, legislative instruments, and financial reporting requirements.
* Experience in establishing and managing executive-level relationships.
* Working knowledge of financial systems, such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Treasury, and Asset Management.
* Prior understanding of the broader financial services market, trends, external markets, and competitive landscapes.
* Prior experience in regulatory reporting related to APRA prudential standards and prudential practice guides.
