About the Role Delivering strong commercial outcomes on our projects is paramount to BMD’s sustainability. In a Cost Engineer role, you will effectively support the execution of cost control services on a major MRPV project in the heartland of northeast Melbourne. Your role will include; Previous experience in cost control, estimation, risk management and financial reporting at similar Construction project Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong analytical and reporting skills Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders Previous experience with the Oracle (JD Edwards), FPM, Primavera (P6) and Production/Productivity management systems is desirable Proficient in MS Office Performs routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities, as directed Supports the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reports Assists with budget allocation and reporting/cost control for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines Supports the preparation of cost data for proposals or contracts Assists in the development of quantity take-offs for a specific discipline or specialty Assists in developing specific project codes of accounts and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions The successful candidate will be a self-starter with: Qualifications in Engineering / Quantity Surveying / Construction Management or Finance Experience in a similar cost engineering or project controls role on large infrastructure projects Proven ability to manage cost forecasting, variance analysis and reporting Strong working knowledge of construction financial systems, preferably JD Edwards, FPM and Primavera (P6) Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High attention to detail and strong analytical skills Excellent time management and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure Benefits We believe our people do their best work when they feel supported — personally and professionally.
