Where you’ll be working
Griffith Base Hospital is a 119-bed facility with 100 hospital care beds and 10 maternity beds. The ED operates 24 hours with 15 spaces and is supported by an ICU; telehealth connects the Griffith team with NSW Critical Care Advisory Service. The Local Health District provides public health services across the Riverina and Murray regions of NSW.
What you’ll be doing
The Visiting Medical Officer – General Practice Anaesthetics is required to provide contemporary, comprehensive specialist services at Griffith Base Hospital. The VMO will provide a high level of clinical care to patients and participate in the on-call roster. MLHD requires VMOs to participate in service and policy development as well as involvement with education, training and quality projects. Selection Criteria
- Holds registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Practitioner.
- Experience and formal recognition as a Procedural General Practitioner with advanced skills and accreditation with the Joint Consultative Committee on Anaesthesia (JCCA) or equivalent.
- Minimum three (3) years post-graduate clinical experience. Previous experience in Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Adult Internal Medicine, Paediatrics or Rural Medicine is advantageous.
- Knowledge of contemporary clinical management and modern approaches in assessment and management of a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Competence in performing minor urgent procedures commonly undertaken in a rural ED, including Advanced Life Support and Trauma management.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
- Commitment to teaching, continuing education, and quality improvement.
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
- Commitment to NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.
