**Librarian Grade 1, Ongoing full time**
- Unique opportunity to join one of NSW's leading cultural institutions
- Competitive remuneration package up to $108,405 p.a. (package includes salary between $73,522 - $96,061 p.a., plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading)

Are you passionate about preserving and sharing the rich cultural heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples? Join our team as a Librarian, where you'll work to help acquire, appraise, arrange and describe our extensive Library collections. With a focus on First Nations cultural material you will work with our cataloguing, acquisition and Indigenous Engagement teams. Collaborate with Library stakeholders and local communities to make these collections accessible, while respecting cultural protocols and sensitivities. Help us to interpret and reposition these invaluable collections.

**About the State Library**

The State Library of New South Wales is one of Australia's oldest and most important public institutions. Collecting actively since 1826, the Library preserves and presents the social, cultural and scientific history of our State and our Nation for the benefit of all. Its rich collections, both physical and digital, alongside partnerships with the public library network across NSW and other vibrant collaborations enable Australians to examine their past and imagine their future. In short, the Library occupies a unique position at the very heart of our civil society.

**About the Role**

The role is based within the CCS Branch but works across the Library contributing to the appraisal, cataloguing and description of the Library's collection, particularly those related to the culture and heritage of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders. The role also works with the Indigenous Engagement Branch and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities to make collections accessible, observing relevant protocols and cultural sensitivities.

**Note**: This is an identified position under the State Library's EEO Management Plan. Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification under section 14 (d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

- Aboriginality and an authentic and respectful interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures
- Qualifications acceptable for professional membership of the Australian Society of Archivists / Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), or tertiary qualifications and experience deemed by the State Librarian to be equivalent that meets the minimum standard of skill and knowledge inherent in the ALIA standard.

**Talent Pool**
