The Opportunity
Atwell's Power & Energy team is hiring a senior civil professional to lead site development for large‐scale renewable projects. You'll own scope, schedule, and budget; direct multi‐disciplinary design; and serve as a primary client interface from early feasibility through IFC and construction support.
What You'll Lead (Day‐to‐Day)
* Project ownership: Drive civil workstreams (site planning, grading, drainage, roadways, stormwater, erosion/sediment control) from feasibility and 10/30/60/90% through IFC and as‐built.
* Design management: Set design criteria; review/approve calculations, plans, and specs; enforce QA/QC and Atwell standards.
* Multi‐discipline coordination: Align civil with electrical collection, substation, environmental/permitting, and survey; resolve interfaces and constraints.
* Permitting & entitlement: Lead submittals and responses with AHJs (SWPPP, NPDES, grading, access/ROW, drainage reports, floodplain, utility coordination).
* Client/PM responsibilities: Manage schedules, budgets, risks, and change orders; run progress meetings; present technical findings and value‐engineering options.
* Construction support: Provide RFIs responses, design clarifications, cut/fill optimization, access improvements, and field reviews/site walks as needed.
* Team leadership: Mentor and direct engineers/designers; delegate production tasks; develop best practices and reusable details/standards.
Core Responsibilities (Technical)
* Utility‐scale site layout optimization for PV arrays and BESS yards (setbacks, topographic constraints, access, O&M, drainage).
* Grading/earthwork (mass balance, constructability on variable terrain; under‐rack grading; tracker constraints).
* Hydraulics & hydrology (detention/retention, culverts, channels, outfalls, floodplain impacts).
* Stormwater & erosion control plans (SWPPP, BMPs) tailored to phased construction.
* Reports & deliverables: Civil basis‐of‐design, drainage/H&H reports, quantity takeoffs, opinions of probable cost, and IFC package leadership.
Tools You'll Use
* AutoCAD & Civil 3D (surfaces, corridors, grading, pipe networks, sheet sets).
* H&H modeling: HEC‐RAS/HEC‐HMS (or Hydraflow equivalents).
* Nice‐to‐have: GIS workflows, Bluebeam, Procore, PV‐adjacent tools (e.g., PVcase Civil or similar), glare/reflectivity assessments, and basic 3D earthwork tools.
Qualifications
* BS in Civil Engineering (MS a plus).
* 8–12+ years of civil/site design with at least 4+ years in utility‐scale solar/BESS or comparable large infrastructure.
* PE license (or ability to obtain in short order) strongly preferred.
* Proven project management experience (scope, schedule, budget risk, change management).
* Demonstrated success leading multi‐disciplinary design teams and mentoring junior staff.
* Willingness to travel periodically for site walks, permitting meetings, and construction support.
Par Range - $100,000 - $150,000 Base + bonus.

Whatever your decision, it will not be considered in the hiring process or thereafter. Any information that you do provide will be recorded and maintained in a confidential file.
As set forth in Atwell, LLC's Equal Employment Opportunity policy, we do not discriminate on the basis of any protected group status under any applicable law.
If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

Voluntary Self‐Identification of Disability
Why are you being asked to complete this form? We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress toward this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.
Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
