Our client, a well‐established and highly regarded aged care provider in Ballina, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their team on a full‐time, permanent basis. A 9‐day fortnight will also be considered for the right candidate. This role is based onsite in the Ballina office and you will be working as part of a collaborative finance team of five, within a supportive and values‐driven organisation.
About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will provide professional and efficient accounting and financial support across the organisation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best‐practice financial management.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintaining accurate financial records including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll and bank reconciliations
* Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
* Managing Refundable Accommodation Deposits (RADs), including compliance, reporting and refunds
* Supporting aged care fees, subsidies and funding reconciliation (including AN-ACC and Support at Home funding)
* Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and financial performance analysis
* Ensuring compliance with aged care legislation, ATO requirements and financial regulations
* Supporting audits and implementing internal control improvements
* Preparing management and board reports with variance analysis and recommendations
* Working closely with operational teams to support financial planning and decision‐making
About You
You will be a proactive, detail‐oriented finance professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and making a meaningful contribution.
You Will Ideally Bring
1. Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related field
2. CPA (or equivalent) certification (or nearing completion)
3. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
4. Experience or understanding of aged care funding and regulatory requirements (highly regarded but not essential)
5. Advanced IT and systems skills
6. Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder‐engagement skills
7. The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a small team
8. A genuine respect for older people and a positive attitude to ageing.
