Advanced Data Analyst Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced data analyst to join our team in the State Operational Data Store Program. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who can deliver advanced data analysis and data scientist related tasks for projects undertaken by the team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and refining machine learning algorithms to ensure outputs are reproducible, robust, and aligned with current best practices. They will also interpret output derived from algorithms generated, clearly articulating underlying assumptions, limitations, and implications for stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have relevant tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in data science, data analytics, actuarial, mathematics, and statistics. A history of openness and curiosity to explore new analytics techniques and data engineering principles and tools is essential.
* Relevant experience applying advanced analytical methodologies, including predictive modelling (e.g. Generalised Linear Model regression, discriminant analysis, gradient boosting or similar).
* Experience with machine learning concepts and algorithms (e.g. supervised and unsupervised learning, regression, classification, clustering, and natural language processing (NLP), deep learning techniques, neural networks etc.).
* Experience with SQL, Python, R, Jupyter Notebook and core data science libraries (e.g Pandas/NumPy/scikit-learn/Matplotlib/TensorFlow/PyTorch).
* Experience with data wrangling and feature engineering including cleaning, transforming, and preparing complex datasets for analysis and modelling.
This is a temporary role and there may be opportunities for ongoing employment at grade. The selection process will include a range of merit-based techniques to assist in determining your suitability for the role.
