About the Business Unit:

The Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group, comprising Corrections Victoria, Justice Health and Justice Services, plays an integral role in developing safer and more resilient communities and in delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.

Corrections Victoria is responsible for the implementation of policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.

Corrections Victoria also sets strategy, policy and standards for the management of the state's system of correctional facilities whilst also developing programs for the management and rehabilitation of prisoners and the community-based supervision of offenders.

As part of the CJS group, the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC) is a 694 bed maximum-security facility for female offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice.

About the Role:

At the DPFC, each Justice Officer role specialises in one of four streams – Records/Property, Human Resources, Finance/Stores and Administration. Over time, and with appropriate support and training, Justice Officers may be rotated between these streams to provide career enhancement opportunities to those staff, and operational flexibility to the prison.

As part of the Records and Property team some of your duties will include:

* Under supervision, performing all administrative functions pertaining to the Records and Property team.
* Maintaining an effective and professional communication channel with Courts, Police, Legal Entities, Government Departments, Visitors, Clients, and various stakeholders.
* Assisting in the preparation of all documentation relating to a prisoner's transfer, classification, release, or court appearances.

This position will require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.

About You:

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

* Well-developed computer literacy with the ability to learn new systems and software.
* Ability to learn or good knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations.
* Experience in data entry and maintaining accurate records.
