**How will I Help?**
Aa a Manager joining the Mortgage Operations Business Controls and Monitoring function within the Group Operations department, you will be responsible for supporting the ongoing management and reporting of risk and compliance obligations in the 1st Line of Defence and embed the Operational Risk Management and Compliance Management Frameworks. You will be focused on driving a strong risk and controls culture that optimises risk/reward, ensures risk and compliance are a key consideration in decisions and therefore, help achieve business objectives. This role also promotes raising awareness and facilitating a strong compliance culture that embodies ethics and integrity, balancing commercial and client needs.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Advising the business to help identify, monitor, measure and manage its risks and controls. Providing pragmatic, outcome-focussed risk and control solutions to optimise risk/reward balance.
- Driving key risk processes e.g., High Level Risk Assessment, Risk and Control Assessment, incident management and issues, providing JUNO support and reporting as required.
- Assisting business leadership to drive a risk and compliance culture and awareness in day-to-day business decisions and strategic initiatives.
- Delivering the first point of contact in relation to the business's compliance controls and policies and provides advice or input into business compliance risks and issues.
- Supporting management in the pro-active consideration of the risk, control and compliance implications of key projects and change management initiatives to drive the timely and cost-effective incorporation of future controls - this includes corresponding PCF updates.
- Facilitating regular reviews to ensure the ongoing relevance of the risk appetite statement, its supporting metrics, and thresholds.
- Monitoring effectiveness of self-assessment practices, highlight gaps and risks outside appetite and escalate as required.
- Ensuring quality of JUNO records and updates by monitoring and tracking actions against risk and control issues identified.
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with 2nd Line Risk, Compliance and Assurance Managers along with the broader business teams.

**What do I need?**
To be successful in this role, you'll need 5+ years' experience in operational risk within the financial services sector, or consulting / audit environment. You will understand risk operations and the compliance requirements as they relate to mortgages and loans. Or, you'll need to showcase comprehensive understanding of Australian Banking Compliance and Regulatory awareness, risk monitoring and control, and policy development/implementation within the financial and banking industry. You will be a proactive and self-motivated professional who is looking to build their stakeholder relationships and assist others in achieving their potential, your commercial acumen and analytical mindset will help you succeed in this role.
