About the role
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Electrical and Control Systems Engineer to join our inclusive and diverse Maintenance Planning & Engineering (MP&E) Team. This unique role will allow you to ensure the safety, reliability and performance of Fixed Plant electrical, control system, and instrumentation assets here at Rio Tinto.
You’ll be supported by your Leader to grow and achieve your personal goals as well as the team’s objectives.
Reporting to the MP&E Engineering Superintendent, your responsibilities will include:
* Adhering to all Rio Tinto health and safety standards, policies, and procedures, and reporting hazards and risks
* Providing engineering support to minimize business interruptions caused by electrical, control system, network, and instrumentation faults
* Offering technical guidance for complex maintenance work on instrumentation, control systems, and electrical assets
* Executing asset management programs to optimize electrical assets
* Supporting the implementation of Functional Safety systems and processes
* Implementing DE improvements to control system and electrical assets
* Collaborating with central teams to share learnings and support replication
* Reviewing Management of Change processes for site assets
* Leading investigations into incidents and outages
* Managing onsite spares for electrical, control system, and instrumentation assets
* Overseeing configuration management for electrical and control system assets
* Leading capital projects for upgrades of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems
* Coordinating with central E&C Engineering and acting as escalation point for complex faults
* Monitoring and maintaining advanced control system schemes
* Supporting safety audits related to machine protection and control systems
About you
To succeed, you should have:
* Knowledge and experience in electrical engineering and process control, with at least 3 years in industry
* Problem-solving skills using established procedures
* Site experience within mining or port environments in a control support role
* Proficiency with Schneider PLCs and Citect SCADA systems is advantageous
* Strong communication skills to present technical information to non-specialists
* Ability to work independently and in teams
* Knowledge of Reliability Engineering and Asset Management practices
* Understanding of Electrical Safety, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, VSDs, UPSs, HVAC, Motors, Cabling, Instrumentation, Earthing, Functional Safety, Arc Flash, Electrical Protection, Regulations, Australian Standards, Control Systems, HMI, and Process Control

This role is on an 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster from Perth to Brockman, located 60km northwest of Tom Price, with state-of-the-art facilities and opportunities for growth.
