This is an opportunity for a Finance Business Partner to join a Queensland Local Government organisation committed to making a positive difference through the services it delivers. The finance branch provides key financial services across budgeting, accounting, revenue, and financial operations.
Your new role
As a Finance Business Partner, you will work under limited direction to provide strategic financial management, support long-term planning, strengthen financial sustainability and partner with stakeholders to deliver informed, future-focused business outcomes. You will be responsible for:
* Leading financial planning and forecasting activities, analysing performance, assessing financial risks and evaluating project viability to support decision-making.
* Developing financial models, long‐term financial plans and rates, and separate charge modelling, and preparing clear cost-benefit analyses and presentations for Executive stakeholders.
* Enhancing costing frameworks, capital accounting processes and financial reporting systems to improve accuracy, efficiency, and the quality of information available to managers
* Building strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders, communicating complex financial information in a clear and practical way, and representing the organisation professionally in meetings and forums
* Identifying and implementing improvements across financial processes, systems and operational practices to support continuous improvement and align with broader strategic objectives
What you'll need to succeed
* Strong analytical, conceptual and problem‐solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, assess financial risks and provide clear, practical advice
* Excellent financial management and costing capabilities, with experience analysing and reporting on finance-related matters in line with organisational requirements
* Solid understanding of financial systems, reporting tools, costing principles and contemporary accounting practices
* High level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interpret policy, provide technical advice and translate complex financial information into simple language
* Proven ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders and work collaboratively across multiple teams
* Demonstrated experience preparing high quality financial reports, modelling and recommendations
* Ability to manage competing priorities, lead tasks or projects in complex environments and contribute to continuous improvement within a team environment
* Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Business, along with experience delivering financial analysis and advisory support in a medium-large organisation. CPA/CA membership or eligibility is desirable.
