Your new role
As the Environmental Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring environmental compliance and supporting safe, effective operations across active landfill and legacy sites. You will:
Plan, coordinate and submit monthly waste contribution reports under relevant environmental legislation.
Oversee compliance with resource recovery orders/exemptions and interpret testing results.
Conduct environmental monitoring, including routine site surveillance in line with EPL requirements.
Assist with closed‑landfill management, including leachate treatment operations and environmental device maintenance.
Analyse environmental data and provide technical reporting and advice.
Respond to environmental incidents and communicate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Support the development and implementation of environmental management plans and procedures.
Manage minor project works, cost estimates, procurement and documentation.
Build strong working relationships with regulators, contractors and operational teams.
What you'll need to succeed
Degree in Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in environmental compliance, ideally within waste or landfill operations.
Strong understanding of environmental legislation, including POEO Act and associated Waste Regulations.
Ability to interpret environmental data, monitoring results and technical documentation.
Knowledge of surface water and sediment control methods.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
High‑level computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
Experience with environmental management systems (ISO is highly regarded.
A Class C driving licence.
