About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Satellite Communications Engineer to join a major Federal Government client on a long-term program of work. You will play a key role in a large-scale Satellite Modernisation Project, involving the design, implementation, and maintenance of satellite communication systems, spanning both legacy GEO infrastructure and emerging NGSO technologies.
The successful candidate will work with architecture, cyber assurance, and regional technical teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance satellite communications across geographically dispersed sites.
Security Clearance: NV2 required
Key Responsibilities
* Design, implement, and maintain satellite communication systems (GEO & NGSO).
* Contribute to high-level design documentation and technical investigations.
* Support deployment and maintenance of satellite terminals at international and remote locations.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver resilient and secure WAN connectivity.
Essential Criteria:
1. 5+ years' experience in satellite communications engineering (GEO & NGSO).
2. Strong understanding of RF and microwave systems (design, testing, optimisation).
3. Experience in high-availability WAN services and satellite-based connectivity.
4. Ability to produce quality technical documentation (designs, maintenance plans).
5. Strong communication and collaboration skills across distributed teams.
Desirable Criteria:
* Previous experience supporting government or defence satellite projects.
* Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers or technicians.
Qualifications
* Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and/or Communications
* Diploma of Engineering in Electronics and/or Communications
