If you enjoy handson outdoor work, take pride in quality tree care, and want to contribute to a safer, greener city, this could be the role for you.

Our Tree team plays a vital role in maintaining Councilowned trees across the city – protecting public safety, enhancing urban amenity and caring for Playford's natural assets. We're looking for someone who brings strong arboricultural skills, a safety‐first mindset and a positive, team‐focused approach.

About The Role

As a Team Member – in our Tree team, you'll deliver proactive and reactive tree maintenance works across streets, reserves, parks and other public spaces.

Your work will include tree pruning and removals, planting and establishment, chipping and waste management, and responding to storm damage or emergency callouts. You'll operate a range of specialised plant and equipment such as chainsaws, woodchippers and elevated work platforms (EWP), and complete aerial and ground‐based works in line with industry safety standards and Australian Standards.

You'll assess tree health, identify pest or structural issues, update Council's tree inventory systems and ensure worksites are left safe, tidy and professional. The role also involves working near traffic, implementing Traffic Management Plans, and completing pre‐start assessments and SWMS to manage risk.

This role may rotate across City Operations teams to support peak workloads, making flexibility, teamwork and communication key to success.

About You

You're passionate about quality tree care and understand the importance of maintaining safe, healthy trees for the community. You take pride in doing the job properly, work methodically and safely, and enjoy contributing to a positive team environment.

You bring practical arboricultural or horticultural skills, along with the ability to identify issues, manage risk and respond effectively to changing conditions. You're comfortable operating plant and equipment, supporting others through mentoring or sharing your knowledge, and are comfortable working outdoors.

You're Someone Who
* Takes pride in delivering high‐quality arboricultural and horticultural outcomes
* Works safely, follows procedures and maintains a strong safety mindset
* Communicates clearly and works well as part of a team
* Uses initiative to identify tree health, pest or safety risks
* Is adaptable and willing to support other City Operations teams when required

A Certificate III in Horticulture or Arboriculture and experience in arboriculture or horticulture maintenance, tree pruning in accordance with Australian Standards, pest and disease identification, operating specialist machinery, or working in a council or similar environment will be highly regarded.

What We Offer
* Ongoing, full‐time work with a great mix of stability and flexibility to help balance life outside work
* Competitive pay with superannuation and employee benefits, including free income protection and journey insurance
* Opportunities for training and professional development to grow your skills over time
* Supportive team environment where your work genuinely makes a difference to the local community

The City of Playford values diversity and work life balance. If you require any reasonable adjustments to be made to support you in submitting your application, including alternative vacancy formats and application options, any information provided will be kept confidential and will only be used to support your access to fully participate in the recruitment process.
