Job Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Resident Engineer to be embedded at a key enterprise customer site in Sydney, supporting mission‐critical storage and infrastructure environments.
In this role, you will act as a trusted technical advisor, working closely with customer stakeholders and internal teams to ensure optimal performance, stability, and continuous improvement of the storage platform, primarily based on Pure Storage solutions.
This is a highly customer‐facing role requiring strong troubleshooting skills, proactive support mindset, and the ability to operate in complex enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
Onsite Support & Operations
* Provide day‐to‐day onsite support for storage and related infrastructure systems
* Monitor system health, performance, and capacity; proactively identify and resolve issues
* Act as the primary technical escalation point for storage‐related incidents
Technical Advisory & Optimization
* Serve as a trusted advisor to the customer on best practices, performance tuning, and optimization
* Recommend improvements for availability, resiliency, and efficiency
* Support planning for upgrades, expansions, and lifecycle management
Incident, Problem & Change Management
* Troubleshoot and resolve L2/L3 storage and infrastructure issues
* Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures
* Support and execute change requests, patching, and upgrades in line with best practices
Project & Delivery Support
* Assist in deployment, migration, and implementation activities
* Work with project teams to ensure smooth rollout and transition to operations
* Validate configurations and ensure alignment with design standards
Stakeholder Engagement
* Collaborate with customer IT teams, vendors, and internal engineering/support teams
* Provide regular updates, reporting, and technical insights to stakeholders
* Build strong working relationships with key customer contacts
Requirements
Experience
* 5–10 years of experience in storage, infrastructure, or data centre environments
* Strong hands‐on experience in enterprise storage systems (Pure Storage preferred; Dell EMC, NetApp, Hitachi also considered)
* Experience supporting mission‐critical production environments
Technical Skills
* Solid understanding of:
* Storage technologies (SAN, NAS, replication, snapshots)
* Data centre infrastructure and operations
* Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, basic troubleshooting)
* Backup, DR, and high availability concepts
* Exposure to virtualization (VMware) and/or cloud environments is a plus
Soft Skills
* Strong customer‐facing and communication skills
* Proactive, problem‐solving mindset with strong ownership
* Ability to work independently in an onsite, embedded role
Preferred / Nice to Have
* Experience working with Pure Storage products (FlashArray / FlashBlade)
* Experience in storage migration or transformation projects
* ITIL knowledge or certification
* Relevant certifications (storage, VMware, or cloud)
