About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Land & Sea Management / Ranger Coordinator to support our ranger team and help deliver meaningful programs in our remote Cape York community. This is a hands-on role offering the opportunity to work closely with Traditional Owners and community while contributing to the protection and management of culturally and environmentally significant land and sea country.
Key Responsibilities
* Adopt and uphold strong organisational culture as set by our CEO, Board, management team and key advisors.
* Support and capacity-build our ranger team on a suite of land and sea management activities, both in community and remotely.
* Build and maintain strong relationships within the organisation and with Traditional Owners, community members and key partners.
* Ensure high standards of workplace health and safety, risk management, compliance, environmental and cultural best practice are embraced by all staff.
* Develop and coordinate natural and cultural resource management activities across an annual work plan, including meeting training and capacity-building needs and focusing on short/medium/long term goals.
* Manage complex budgets, high-value assets and reporting requirements across various internal, grant and other timeframes.
About You
* Strong communication skills and relationship-building abilities demonstrated by a robust industry-wide network and positive relationships with others currently working in this field.
* Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to deeply listen to and be culturally led by long-term staff, including the ability to mentor, build long-term trust, capability, and support diverse teams and personalities.
* Demonstrated experience in land and sea management program delivery, cultural practices and asset preservation, conservation/ecology/research and community development fields, particularly noting Indigenous cultural competence with time spent in remote communities within Australia (international examples may be accepted).
* Capacity to live and work in remote Indigenous communities without bias or personal agenda, including fulfilling a FIFO roster where necessary, ensuring any conflicts of interest are made clear during interview.
* Degree or other qualifications in natural and cultural resource management.
* Current manual driver's license (essential); additional licenses and certifications highly regarded, particularly for machinery and marine vessel operation.
