**The Role**
Reporting to the Group Health Safety and Environment Manager, the WHSE Systems Specialist - Technical Document Writer's accountabilities and functions will include revising existing WHSE Management System documents and processes to ensure compliance to WHSE regulation reforms and meeting operational needs.
The WHSE Systems Specialist - Technical Document Writer will also be responsible for creating new system documents, assimilating technical materials required, ensuring a pragmatic and efficient approach to systems delivering process documents that are concise, easily read and understood.
This 12 months fixed term position will appeal to a suitably qualified person with extensive technical safety experience and will require creative thinking and excellent attention to detail.
**Key Duties**
- Create a project plan for the revision of management system documents that prioritises activities by order of risk
- Write and edit technical documents, including reference manuals, policy manuals, and procedural documentation such as user guides, that meets organisational standards
- Meet with key stakeholders in the organisation to determine and discuss requirements for process documentation, reporting and other templates.
- Research, review and analyse technical and product information from various sources
- Create diagrams, charts and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding a procedure, template or process
- Write, format, edit, review and proofread the documentation and technical information for technical and non-technical users
**The Expertise**
- Tertiary qualification in a Health/Safety, or related discipline supported by 3+ years' experience is desirable
- Proven ability in development of Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems
- Proven ability in development of operational procedures and guidelines
- Demonstrated experience in technical document writing
- Experience in third party accreditation to Australian Standards
- Demonstrated knowledge of how to research applicable legislative and industry best practice
- Solid understanding of Health, Safety and Environment Acts, Regulations, Standards, Codes and Guidelines for Western Australia
- Current WA C Class Driver's Licence.
**Requirements**:
To be eligible for this role, applicants must be able to provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
The successful applicant must have a current WA driver's licence, be able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Access Card and undergo a pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol testing.
